You know that feeling? You get out of the shower, you dry yourself, and before you're even finished, your skin is already tight. Your cheeks are rough. The skin around your mouth is peeling. In winter, it's even worse. You put on some cream, it soothes for two hours, and then it starts all over again.
Your skin doesn't lack cream. It lacks oil.
The skin barrier—that thin layer that protects your skin and retains moisture—is weakened. Water evaporates, and your skin becomes constantly dehydrated. Water-based creams provide surface relief but don't repair this barrier.
What repairs it? Oils. Argan, sweet almond, shea—these natural oils rebuild your skin's protective barrier. That's why Moroccan women, who used to slather themselves in argan oil after the hammam, had such soft skin even under the Saharan sun.
